Mesut Ozil is reportedly willing to accept a pay bigger pay cut but wants Arsenal to give him assurances how the money will be used.
The German midfielder is among three players who refused a 12.5 per cent pay cut despite being the highest-paid with a take-home of £350,000-per-week.
It came as a surprise Ozil who donates heavily to charity refused the offer, particularly given that the money would be refunded if the club qualify for the Champions League and partially reimbursed if they qualify for the Europa League.
But according to ESPN, Ozil felt there was lack of proper communication from the club and believes it was a mistake not to consult with lawyers over the request.
Ozil, therefore, wants assurances on how the money will be spent and believes more time needs to pass to see the true financial implications of the COVID-19.

Clubs have reached an agreement with players regarding the current economic situation but a number of Arsenal players have refused the proposal.
And the Good Morning Britain’s presenter was quick to get angry at the Gunners' highest-paid player Ozil who pockets £350,000-a-week since January 2018.
Ozil now wants to see how long the pandemic would linger before rushing into a decision regarding his wages.
Though the Arsenal midfielder has come under huge criticisms about refusing to accept a 12.5 per cent pay cut during the pandemic, despite pocketing £350,000 weekly.
But according to his agent Dr, Erkut Sogut, the 31-year-old has shown his act of kindness to fund children's hospital bills and provide shelter for the less privileged.
