COVID-19: Nigeria To Get US Ventilators In Two Weeks

Watch List: Buhari Govt Warns US To Stay Off Nigeria Affairs

Nigeria is set to take delivery of the ventilators promised by American President, Donald Trump by the middle of June.

However, the delivery time could still be affected by production and shipping times, Naija News understands.

It would be recalled that the American President had on April 28 during a phone conversation with his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari promised to send 250 ventilators to Nigeria to support the fight against COVID-19.

However, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed while speaking at the presidential task force briefing on the 28th of May, said the ventilators are yet to arrive in Nigeria.

According to him, there is no specific date for the arrival of the medical items, and that the information will be made public once the ventilators are received.

But the US Embassy in Nigeria on Monday confirmed that the ventilators are expected to arrive by the middle of June.

The mission gave the date in response to inquiries by The PUNCH on the time of delivery for the promised ventilators.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday evening, announced 241 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Nigeria.
